xerus http://www.inxerus.com/ an internet blog on the blogosphere containing all of xerus's thoughts and dreams. or something profound like that. en-us Paint the Mona Lisa http://www.inxerus.com/post.php?id=350 I'm going to be heading off for awhile, so this will be my last post for August. I just finished putting together some new pieces of my PC, so I'm now running on a Core 2 Quad q6600, with a cooler motherboard and 4gb of ram to go with it. I'm always incredibly afraid that something is going to blow up whenever I put together a computer, but so far everything is running fine-- until I overclock! Now the point of this post is this video of the Mythbusters painting the Mona Lisa... Uzebox http://www.inxerus.com/post.php?id=349 Ah, where have I been? I was gone for the weekend, off on a road trip with friends. Now let's get some more posts in for August. Check out this Uzebox thing, posted over at Go Nintendo. An new, old school 8-bit system that plays with NES controllers. You can see all the features at their website. It's always nice to see the spirit of the good ole days of gaming alive and well in the homebrew communities. The Conduit http://www.inxerus.com/post.php?id=348 Games Convention 2008 is pouring out some media for upcoming games, and The Conduit is a Wii game that I've been slightly interested in over the past few months. High Voltage Software plans on bringing a FPS experience to the Wii that is unrivaled by other games, by pushing the graphics of the Wii to something tolerable (nothing against the Wii, just all the crap shovelware games that get dumped on it) and hopefully making the controls work. (Wow, IGN's player really sucks. I... Red Alert 3 Cast is AWESOME http://www.inxerus.com/post.php?id=347 Red Alert 3 has been sneaking along, and I actually completely forgot the game was in development until now. The release date is slated for October (Red October, GET IT?) and EA has just released a teaser trailer of the live action sequences of the game. Red Alert and the Command and Conquer series are known for their over the top and corny cut scenes between missions, and it's what gives the games so much damn personality, and personally made me feel connected to the... You're Sick of this by Now http://www.inxerus.com/post.php?id=346 Time for some background colors! Man, honestly, this is coming out pretty good to me, and I'm pretty pleased that I'm still going on it. Hopefully this will bring in more traffic through google image search for avatar. That search for some reason has the incredible ability to retrieve nothing but fan art if you search for any character or series. BLiP Documentary http://www.inxerus.com/post.php?id=345 If anyone ever asks me what kind of music I listen to, I have to reply "mostly video game music." Yeah, video game soundtracks populate a vast majority of my winamp media library, so obviously I'm a big fan of chip tunes and similar music. What are chip tunes? Check out Reformat the Planet, a documentary about the chip tune scene in New York. You can only see it for a week, so catch it fast before it goes down! Captain Rainbow http://www.inxerus.com/post.php?id=344 This is an odd game that I've been catching a little bit of here and there. I really don't know where it came from, or what it's actually about, but for some reason I'm strangely intrigued. Here's a look at the trailer, and 3 commercials for the game. Avatar Progress http://www.inxerus.com/post.php?id=343 I had some time tonight to jam out some more on this awesome fan art picture. I'm still pretty unsure how I'm going to color the entire picture, but for now I just threw in the color keys of all the different pieces of clothing and characters and what not. The shading is temporary, I'm just using it so I can visualize stuff a little better as I progress. Hmm... I think I cel shade too much, so I'm going to try and steer clear of that. Website Project: Done! http://www.inxerus.com/post.php?id=342 Alright, I love it when my work finally goes live after weeks of intense designing and coding! And here is my latest beauty... Check out The Whimsy Rag, a site all about the wild world of fantasy writing. It will be chock full of short stories, news on fantasy related books, and who knows what else. I learned a lot of things I wanted to know while doing this project, including the elusive URL rewriting system that is used to make URLs look pretty (note that my blog does not... Gamma 3d Announced! http://www.inxerus.com/post.php?id=341 Gamma 3d, the third installment of the Gamma series of art game party shows is officially on. Imagine a bunch of indie games up on giant projectors being played by people in some sort of party environment, and that's Gamma. I was lucky enough to attend Montreal Game Summit for the past two years, and I also got a chance to attend Gamma 256 at the end of MIGS07. The event is hosted by Kokoromi, along with Phil Fish (of Fez fame.) Last year's theme was small, and...
